Love your work. Question. I'm doing a Mercedes turbo 190e build using the M103 engine. sohc, inline 6 cylinder. Would you consider porting a head if I send one out?

85-90 percent of the valve depending on goals is generally used. Turbo smaller areas and NA is usually bigger. In Direct injection it’s a different ball game for sure. Usually a race application only high rpm will use a bigger port but if it’s turbo you can absolutely kill the power.

Who the hell installs over sized valves without the right valve seat and machine work? People seriously do this, thinking the factory seats are fine? Wow. Over sized valves and the right seats machined and ported properly absolutely does flow more.

What about an oversized super tech valve?

Ive watches your process, wondering if you remove the guides for access (esp 4v heads) or its part of the valve job.

Would be nice to know clearance used in that application

I ported my mopar 5.9l Magnum v8 heads back in the day ..... Looked similar to this ... All smooth ect .... My engine shop said i destroyed the short side radius and they heads were garbage.... (I didjt realize i had cracked heads so that was ok in the end ..... But i was proud nof my porting and they said never polish the inside/ short side like this I left the replacement heads untouched

I'm building a non-vvti1jz at the moment, and as I already have all the manifolds and ancillary staff, I don't want to change that - so I would be very interested in seeing how the exhaust ports could be modified to flow better. However, as I'm going to be using this as a road car, I don't want to lose any bottom end power. Would increasing the flow on the exhaust ports have a detrimental effect on low-end torque?

the RB26 can rev to 9k with medium cams and springs that's a huge powerband, therefore removing the quench makes it more suitable in that higher rpm?

1.5 J that's what I got make an over a thousand horsepower me personally do not like the vvti head the cam gears make a lot of noise I can see and understand his flow test but but I don't know for some reason 1.5 J non vvti makes a lot of power and this is stock head with valve spring and retainer 264 cams

So the restriction is not in the valve?

Well I know who I'll be calling for head work when I want to break open my G16E-GTS. Currently just a bunch of bolt-on's and waiting on an intercooler before I get tuned, spoke to John at Nemtec and they will probably be helping with that. Supposedly with the few bolt-ons I have installed valve float may be an issue and I've seen the issue with the GRY where the rockers were coming off their perch and causing all kinds of havoc so I'm a little paranoid now. Great Video!
